Saint Luke’s is happy to welcome back Reverend Canon Michael Rees as it’s locum. He will arrive May 9th and minister at Saint Luke’s until the end of July 2019.
You are very welcome, indeed encouraged, to come to the 10:30 am Sunday Service at Saint Luke’s Church Fontainebleau on May 12th to join with the rest of the congregation in welcoming Reverend Canon Rees. If you’ve never been to Saint Luke’s, it’ll be a pleasure to welcome you at the same time! The church wardens have asked if the Reverend Canon would supply the congregation with some biographical details. Here they are:
Greetings to you all in the name of Jesus, Crucified and Risen. It is a privilege for me to share with you in a Locum Chapliancy at St Luke’s. Since my retirement 1st June 2015 I have shared many times in South Tenerife, All Saint’s Puerto de la Cruz, Costa Almeria and Calida – all Chaplaincies now with a full time Priest. I have served for Chaplain Adrian holidays at Costa del Sol (West) and due to return there for the month of August this year.
My whole blessed ministry has been in the Diocese of St David’s Church in Wales. The Church in Wales was disestablished from the Church of England in 1920.
I prepared for the Ministry at St John’s College, Ystrad Meurig 1969-1970 and then at Bishop Burgess Theological College, St David’s University College, Lampeter 1971-1974. Following my Deacons Ordination 21st September 1974, I served the Curacy of Cardigan, Mwnt and Ferwig.
December 21st 1975 I was ordained Priest at my curacy Church St Mary’s Cardigan. On the first of January 1977 I was appointed Minor Canon of St David’s Cathedral and a Succentor of the Cathedral were I serve for 5years. 1982-1984 I became Vicar in the Rectorial Benefice of Aberystwyth based in Penparcau.
Then I became Rector of the Parish of Penboyr : St Llawddog Church, St Barnabas Drefach Felindre for 5years and appointed also for 9 years as Children’s Officer for the Diocese of St Davids. Appointed as Vicar of the Parish of Henfynyw, Holy Trinity, Aberaeron and Llanddewi Aberarth 1998- 1999. Area Dean of Glyn Aeron. Vicar of the Parish of Gorslas, CrossHands and Carmel, Area Dean of Dyffryn Amman, Canon of St Davi’d Cathedral and later years as Vicar of Betws with Ammanford. A Bilingual Ministry: Welsh and English having enjoyed it immensely.
I found every Parish unique, precious and special. Delighted to have been blessed by the Lord.
